Dr. Fauziah Marpani
Universiti Teknologi Mara, Malaysia
Research Area:
Enzyme technology, biochemical engineering, membrane separation, particle technology
Research Experience:
I was attached in Center for Bioprocess Engineering, Department of Chemical & Biochemical Engineering, Technical University of Denmark (DTU) during my PhD (2012-2016). My research topic is about catalyzing carbon dioxide into useful chemicals with a cascade of enzymes working in reverse in a membrane bioreactor. My experiences include synchronous membrane filtration and product separation (reactive separation technology), various non-covalent enzyme immobilization techniques, complex enzyme kinetics and catalysis and enzyme & cofactor utilization and efficiency. During the period, 4 academic articles has been published in a very high impact journals in the field. I did involved in fluidization of biomass particles in a cold rig to explain on the hydrodynamics and behavior of the particles in a fluidized bed reactor.
I have been teaching in the Faculty of Chemical Engineering, Universiti Teknologi MARA Malaysia since 2007. Currently, I am attached with the Deputy Dean’s office as a coordinator for research and industrial linkages, managing research related activities and liaison with industry panels for consultation projects, MOU/MOA, conducting national & international research grants application workshop and academic writing series. I am leading Integrated Separation Technology and Research Group (iSTRonG) in a track for development of High Center of Excellence at the national level. We have secured more than RM600,000 (USD150,000) research grants to date. I would like to expand my research interest in biocatalysis, membrane filtration and enzyme immobilization in bioprocessing and water treatment.
